LOT Polish Airlines built its network around Warsaw Chopin as a transfer point between North America, East Asia and the rest of Central and Eastern Europe, using Dreamliners on the long sectors and a large Embraer fleet on the feeders. It is state-controlled through the PGL group and has expanded steadily since 2016 towards cities such as Seoul, Tokyo and several US gateways.

LOT is licensed in Poland, so Regulation (EC) 261/2004 covers all its departures from EU airports and all its arrivals into the EU, including flights from Asia and North America to Warsaw. Long-haul arrivals more than three hours late usually sit in the €600 band, while intra-European delays fall to €250 or €400.
Tips for claiming
LOT's regional flying is partly done by its own Embraer fleet and partly by partners using LO flight numbers, so check who actually operated the aircraft: the claim goes to the operating carrier. Winter disruption in Warsaw is common, and de-icing queues or airport snow clearance are usually accepted as extraordinary circumstances, but crew shortages and technical faults on the aircraft are not, so ask the crew to state the cause and write it down.
